Rubbermaid Slim Jim 87L Blue Trash Can - Durable Waste Container for Kitchen, Office, or Garage - Space-Saving Design with Secure Lid

This is truly a well-made garbage can. I've placed two of these side-by-side (one for recycling and one for trash) behind the bar in my home. We often host parties for our kids' sports teams (lots of people). Because they're tall, they work very nicely without requiring constant attention. They work nicely if you get 23 gallon liners designed specifically for the Slim Jim can. (Update: One nice feature I didn't realize the cans possess... There are little pointy tabs at each of the corners. These poke into the can liners and prevent the liners from being pulled into the can.)Despite being well made, I don't understand why this the Rubbermaid Slim Jim cans are several times more expensive than the larger standard trash cans of similar quality. I purchased the Slim Jim based upon size and couldn't find a less expensive alternative than Rubbermaid. The high cost is the only reason for the 4-star rating. It would be helpful if they could print the recycling symbol on all four sides.I am confident this is durable enough for a lifetime of use in my home.The product is good. Sturdy and stuff I guess.I bought it for my kitchen because I wanted a tall, low cost trash can that lined up perfectly with the wall. It was either this or something from simple human... which would have probably opened itself with a wave of my hand but cost me more and possibly required batteries...It's difficult looking for trash bags at the store for this... I think they stock 8 gallon, 10, 13, 28, and 33 or something like that... idk.I ordered the ones the company offers on Amazon. Which cost me less than the store would have charged for a bag that would have been either too big or too small. I guess that worked out... Now to put a sticker on the front to hide the recycle sign.When I bought this, I didn't realize how large it was going to be. For my home office, I thought I would use it for Recyclable paper by putting it next to my desk. But because it stands almost 3 feet tall it is a bit larger than expected. I was thinking it was a small trash can size. I would definitely look for the smaller version next time. However, this can come in handy for parties where I can put a large trash bag in it and have people put cans and bottles in it.Great product. I moved out to the country where we do not have a regular trash pick up. We do recycle all that we can in order to be somewhat green. This unit is very sturdy rigid plastic like an industrial quality bin. It is large enough to hold over a weeks worth of recycling which is good and I am not messing around with small bags or large bags of recyclables piled in the corner. It has a large capacity yet it is tall and narrow with a fairly small foot print so it fits right where I need it to without taking up a ton of space. I can't tell you how happy I am with the purchase.I loved this can, but it unfortunately didn't fit the space I had purchased it for. Obviously my fault for not measuring, I had assumed they were a standard height. This was great quality though and had a very nice strong lip and handles that looked like they would really hold up. My plan was to use it for our recyclables so I did like the standard blue recycling color since our bins are the same color right now so we always need to clarify for guests.The size of this bin is great for where I wanted it to fit. However the lids for this are terrible. They don't fit well at all. Falls off if you bump into it.I expected better from Rubbermaid for these to fit better together (Rubbermaid Commercial FG269288BLUE Slim Jim Rectangular Recycling Container Top, Blue)Wide enough for gallon milk containers, tall enough for a week's worth of home recycling. I drilled a hole at the bottom to ensure drainage, as we keep this right outside our kitchen sliding glass doors on our deck. Sturdy and stands well on its own.Bought this recycle bin for our home as we have single stream recycling curbside and would fill up on of those teensy tiny blue bins in about 2 days. This guy will take just about anything and swallow it up til trash day and would be able to contain the blast from a hand grenade. Well not quite but it is very thick heavy duty plastic.I bought 4 of these to sort all of my recycling and they are wonderful! Tall and skinny, yet hold a ton of recyclables, these are perfect space savers and are heavy duty. When I take my recycling to the depot I get asked where I bought them from other people all the time.This recycling container fits neatly between the garage door and the wall in my single car garage. It is sturdy and looks like it will last forever. The material has some give so it won't crack easily like harder plastics, but is still sturdy enough to survive over-filling.Like the size and form factor.
