I enjoyed some Tone's garlic pepper that a friend gave me years back, it finally ran out. Looked for more and found that the same product is under Durkee branding now, and I'm enjoying this new container of spice. My old canister was so old that it had lost a lot of its pizazz, and the new bottle is of course quite strong, so a solid 100% comparison between the old and new is difficult to guarantee. It does taste like the old stuff, and I liked the old stuff enough to hunt down its replacement....As for the product objectively, it is a fine balance of peppers and garlic. I like my food mild, and this blend adds a lot of good subtle flavor without making it hot or overriding other flavors. If I'm too lazy to crush garlic, or don't have fresh garlic, this is a good lazy substitute with added background, making it better for general cooking then just garlic granule. I apply it on all pork, and it is perfect for fried chicken.
