Keeps the tank warmWorks great! I have it plugged into a smart plug so it auto turns on and off. both dog and cat love it. not too hot but noticeably warm to the touch. Would recommend and will another so the dog and cat dont have to share (I also already have one as a foot warmer in the office)Looks cheaply made but snake likes it.This is the best value by far. It is faster than the stick on pads, it has less to heat through and it distributes heat more evenly across the substrate. The best part is that they are cheaper too. Plug it into your thermostat and forget about it. The current ones are over 6 months old and still heating great.Using under a pad for a ferile cat box outside in Maine. Keeps kitty warm once she settles. 65 degrees when 20 out. Not its planned use but what i wanted it for.It came with no directions or instructions. Nothing from the company that we purchased it from. No warranty. It seems to be working ok. Not thrilled with this product.Bought this for my Ikea cabinet that I turned into a greenhouse. Working out ok. Like that it has an adjustable thermostat.I actually use these for cats, purely because they seemed to be less of a fire hazard than eat mats meant for mammals. They have incredible output, they can get so hot it burns you! But the control knob is pretty good. Plus I never worry about a fire starting. I put it under the cat houses and it makes the floor all warm for them. They love it!
